about her-stories.co.uk ~ the women's history site Her stories is the brainchild of Mary Turner, a former history teacher turned freelance writer, who is passionate about women's history. She is the author of 'The Women's Century: a celebration of changing roles 1900 -2000' published by The National Archives. Whilst researching her book, Mary collected a number of anecdotes from ordinary women. She was struck by the way in which most of the women she talked to played down the importance of their experiences. This web-site hopes to give a voice to many of those women whose stories deserve to be told.
